This morning Some days you feel yucky, some great, but today's description is more complicated. Most of today had felt like it's 5:00AM, all night has been spent drinking alone, not a festive kind of drinking, not depressed, maybe melancholy, the buzz is almost completely gone, there's a vague uneasiness that may develop into hangover and may not, and I can't go to bed yet. That's pretty much how I felt today from waking up until lunch. Weird. | | Friday, September 21st, 2007 | | 5:15 pm |
Round these parts I noticed that Florida is very juicy. We've been getting some real moisture recently. My roof leaks as well. I had water dripping on my monitor (computer, not lizard). Gail, Noah, and I all have the same weekend off. Time to go and do stuff! I started out by sleeping in then going to the gym. I'm not overly burdened with responsibilities this weekend, should be fun. I might even get in some computer game time. | | Friday, September 7th, 2007 | | 12:32 am |

Had a lovely trip. We drove to DC, flew to Vegas, did stuff, flew back, drove back. I got to be best man (and maid of honor kinda) at Andre and Andrea's wedding in a real Las Vegas wedding chapel. Gail, Noah, and I formalized our commitment to each other later in the day atop the Stratosphere. more pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/elbertrando/Plenty of neat stuff in Vegas, then we went back to DC. I'd never been before. We went to the Smithsonian and the WWII memorial and we hung out with family. Back at work now, I'll post again in 4 months when I have another vacation or something. | | Sunday, March 4th, 2007 | | 11:52 am |
I danced so much last night I got blisters. I'm a little deaf too. Voltaire was very entertaining. I'm headed out to check out the local SCA group today, and maybe go get an expensive coffee somewhere. I'm making it out to the gym at least a couple days a week. It feels good mostly, and I think I might have made a friend there yesterday. Work is unrewarding but not overly inconvenient. | | Monday, January 29th, 2007 | | 11:14 am |
busy weekend
I spent all weekend cooking. I made, divided into single servings, and froze about 70 containers worth of stuff. I also made blackeyed peas and cornbread for dinner and taco meat for dinner Saturday and tonight. Lots of Pasta Roni and Hamburger Helper for lunch portioning along with some long grain and wild rice and some red beans and rice with sausage. To top it all off I made a triple layer cake with chocolate and white cake, raspberry (thinking of Amy saying rasP Berry) jam filling, and whipped butter cream frosting. I used some of the batter to make chocolate cupcakes injected with raspberry (rasP Berry) and more butter cream frosting on top. I also made it to the gym on Saturday for a good 45 minutes of cardio. If I can keep this up, I might try a cardio class and see if I have the lung power to make it through the whole class. | | Sunday, January 21st, 2007 | | 5:25 pm |
I finally got out and went dancing again last night. We found a babysitter and were all able to get away for a while. First was a lovely sandwich place for dinner, then goth-industrial night at Eclipse for dancing and drinking. It was lovely. A band played for a while, they were alright, then more dancing. I think I need to make more of my time at home with everyone, and make more of an effort to get out and do other stuff so I have something to talk about when I am home. I do a little too much of nothing in particular by myself in front of my computer. I finally joined the gym, it's been years that I've been away. I'm very hurty the last few days. Very angry muscles. I'd like to concentrate on more cardio this time around for the long term health benefits, though getting bulging muscles is easier to find appealing. Now to see about maybe making a friend or two here. | | Thursday, December 7th, 2006 | | 11:12 pm |
Holiday travel
All I wanted to do for Giftmas was go to Las Cruces. Boss said I could, boss then said I couldn't. Today boss said I could and I'm buying nonrefundable tickets so there's no changing it again. I'll be in town from Friday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon around the New Year's Day weekend. | | Monday, October 30th, 2006 | | 8:10 pm |
I bought a house. There have been many adventures fixing stuff and building stuff for the house. Most of the big stuff is done. We'd like to put in a tankless water heater and buy an upright freezer still. It's very near work in a nice neighborhood. Tuesday I started work as a pharmacy tech. I work during the day in the pharmacy filling many bottles of pills. So far it's very stressful. I feel very inadequate, and there is far too much to learn for me to just zip through it all and be back to valuable. It's a raise though. I went out on Friday with Gail and a friend from work. The friend got wasted and was dirty dancing with a stranger, then he stole her phone and debit card. I didn't like Club Paris much anyway. Saturday was the Cummer Art Museum and Gardens with the whole family. It was pretty cool. Current Music: Nickelback-Rockstar | | Thursday, August 10th, 2006 | | 9:03 am |
I made it out to the beach on Saturday for the whole beach experience. I played in the water, helped make a sand castle, and got horizontal for additional sun exposure a bit. I didn't burn, Gail did a bit, Noah did a lot, and the young'uns seemed to make it alright with the SPF 1000 stuff we dipped them in. Tried the Krystal burger place, kinda like White Castle only worse. Work is superboring. I went and worked in grocery a while just for something to do. I just got my first full paycheck at my new pay rate and full schedule. Nice. Meeting other people still isn't happening, but the cool gaming place might help with that here in a few weeks. I'm thinking of doing a demo for Battleground after I get refamiliarized with it. The shopowner had heard of it, but apparently no one owns it round these parts. | | Sunday, July 23rd, 2006 | | 9:48 am |
I went out last night to check out the nightlife. I found a cool club that does goth/industrial on Saturday nights. I spent about 4.5 hours dancing until they made everyone leave at 3:00. It was lovely. Now I have to check out the bar/coffee bar/happenin' spot for live music sometime soon. Time for sleep, for tonight I work. | | Friday, July 21st, 2006 | | 7:28 pm |
Success! I can live here after all. I found a good gaming store today. It's got tables in the back for gaming that they don't charge anything to use. They do used stuff as well. I've got everything taken care of paperwork-wise for living here. License, insurance, bank account, etc. all done. Sunday night starts WalMart drone time again. It's been wonderful not being there, but I am looking forward (a little) to the new job situation. Personal life is spiffy as well. I got to see Superman IMAX on Wednesday night. | | Sunday, July 9th, 2006 | | 12:19 am |
Hi all. I just moved to Jacksonville, FL. I got here Friday through lots of rain but otherwise safe. I've got a week until I go to work at the WalMart here. I haven't been to the beach yet, but I've been to the A&W/KFC for lunch. Having a good time and looking forward to the future. I miss gaming night already, run away from some kobolds in my stead. Peace out, y'all. | | Sunday, March 19th, 2006 | | 1:21 pm |
Camping madness!
Larry's birthday is Tuesday, so we went camping this weekend in celebration. I'm glad we found out about Three Rivers, it's such a short drive to such a pretty place that not too many people go to. It was windy enough that we didn't have a fire until this morning. I forgot my air mat, not so good. I'd like to make a trip up North (maybe even Colorado) to somewhere different for a couple nights after my knee issues are settled and I can hike around more. | | Sunday, January 1st, 2006 | | 3:27 pm |
Just finished eating 40 pounds of black-eyed peas and cornbread. Yummy. I felt crappy last night so I did nothing at all for New Year's Eve but sleep and listen to the gunfire. Work is going alright, the jewelry job isn't going at all. I've got to call him and quit completely instead of just cutting back hours. I got beer and meat for giftmas, and some other nice stuff. It has been a lovely holiday season, lots of hanging out with family and friends. From a work standpoint, I'll be glad for the holidays to be over. Happy New Year everyone. | | Monday, December 19th, 2005 | | 3:12 pm |
To all who might be interested: Nosotros is playing at El Patio in Mesilla this Thursday and Friday night from 9:30 to close. I hope to be there on Friday having wacky fun. | | Monday, December 12th, 2005 | | 1:11 pm |
I went to Albuquerque and Santa Fe this weekend. Andre and Andrea's new apartment is lovely. We did a little bit of stuff, mostly ate. Play Space Chicks next time for sure. Saturday I played in a poker tournament and did ok for my first. Had dinner and much alcohol afterward. There were some hot chicks too. Nick, great choice in restaurants. Can't wait to visit everyone again. Woohoo! | | Monday, November 21st, 2005 | | 11:21 pm |
Long overdue. I went to California this weekend for Gencon. It was a rewarding experience. Lots of gaming fun was had. We gamed in the car on the way there, we gamed there, we gamed on the way back. I won some books, met some nice people, bought some steel dice, made plans to go next year. We went to the beach on Sunday after the convention was over and had a great dinner at a restaurant by the water. I've got until next Monday morning before I go to work again. Thursday after turkey I am headed out to Tucson for a couple days to round out my time off. | | Sunday, September 25th, 2005 | | 12:10 pm |
I started a new schedule on Monday. 3 AM to noon M-F. I'll be getting more hours at work this way. So far so good. I thought the crowds of people would be a problem, but I can still get stuff done. I also get to have contact with my coworkers, I didn't even know many of their names after all this time. I just returned from camping near Cloudcroft a little while ago. It was very nice up there, no rain and moderate temperatures. Ben, Amy, Bill, Steve, Kelly, Matt, Erin, and me. Allergies were a bit of a problem. I'll have to take better medicine with me next time. Monday we have a visiting artist at the university, guy from England that does stuff with Lexan so I hear. Unfortunately I'll have to leave work early and miss gaming to go. I've got a little clothes washing today, then sleep until 2 AM for work. |
